Gear Chasing

One of my photographer friends Ryan Connors* once gave me a lecture about chasing gear that has greatly affected me in my photography career.  Yes most professional photographers have really nice gear and a lot of it, but do you need it for good photos? Nope.  I'm sure it makes their job a lot easier, but unneeded. I am still shooting with the first camera I ever picked up, a Rebel EOS xti.  Not the best camera in the world, low megapixel, horrible ISO handling, and most of all only shooting through a 50mm 1.8 and 18-55 3.5 Kit Lens.  But with just this gear I have produced quality work from senior portraits and even to weddings. A good photographer can get good shots with whatever they use, as long as you keep all fundamentals in mind.
These photos are just some goofing off I did with my xti and an uncommon lighting set up.  Just wanted to a mock ad. for my phone. Its nothing special but just an Idea. Practice makes perfect.

Then again I am becoming more and more talented in post production, but its becoming the industry standard. All those photographers out there that do not believe in photoshop are going to be left behind with big name jobs and commercial work.

Editing Styles

I have been messing around with editing styles lately and have realized theres unlimited opportunities.  I seem to always worry about the process of how things are working. But after a while came to the conclusion that its the end result that matters.  At times I have used more than one editing program on one image.  Also learned layers are my friend. :)

This is the latest image manipulation project I did.  I want my images to reflect a certain amount of editing, for as you can tell no one can truly end up with that flawless of skin, but not to look completely out of this world.
